Here’s How We Can Improve
We can all agree that we are very fortunate to live in this country. Let’s face it, things can be much, much worse. We have an abundance of food, medicine, and accessibility to resources most of the world can only dream about. Yet, I read this in the Washington Post ” …U.S. life expectancy continues to lag far behind other developed countries, despite spending way more on medical treatments aimed at keeping us alive.”(https://www.washingtonpost.com).
So how could it be that we spend more than any other rich country out there yet rank so low? This article says that we are ranked last among the richest countries: “And while the U.S. spends more on health care than any country in the world, it ranks 12th in life expectancy among the 12 wealthiest industrialized countries…”(https://www.npr.org/).
As we continue to increase our life expectancy we must think about what kind of quality of life we want as we age and also, consider the cost of living. I am almost 4o years old and according to this data it means that I have about 40 years ahead of me. Just like any of you, I imagine spending these next 40-50 years feeling great, enjoying time with my family and having fun. If during these 40-50 years I could be saving a bunch of money on health care as opposed to spending all my time and money on medications and procedures, that would be fantastic. According to what we know today, being proactive could potentially prevent many of these health issues with minimal cost. I found that chiropractic is a great way to not only prevent these health issues but to increase over all health and well-being. At the end of the day it’s up to us. You should consult your physician or other health care professional before starting this or any other fitness program to determine if it is right for your needs. This is particularly true if you (or your family) have a history of high blood pressure or heart disease, or if you have ever experienced chest pain when exercising or have experienced chest pain in the past month when not engaged in physical activity, smoke, have high cholesterol, are obese, or have a bone or joint problem that could be made worse by a change in physical activity. Do not start this fitness program if your physician or health care provider advises against it. If you experience faintness, dizziness, pain or shortness of breath at any time while exercising you should stop immediately. Pediatric Chiropractic Recommendations
I strongly recommend for all babies to have their spine and nerve system evaluated evaluated and adjusted as needed on a regular basis (as early as a few hours/days old). I check my son for misalignmenmts on a regular basis, and he gets adjusted on a regular (weekly) basis. Not because something is wrong with him, but because I want for him to be able to express his full human potential. This potential, the way we function, heal and think is abstracted and interfered with by spinal misalignments. My son, my wife and myself will keep getting regular chiropractic care as long as we are around.
