As part of my effort to improve the health of our community, I am offering Baseline Assessments for all children under the age of 15. This may be your own child, your grandchildren, a friends child or even a co-workers child. There is no cost to the parent to fill this form out and then to meet with Dr. Ofek to go over the results. The baseline assessment is a great way for you to see where your child is prior to going back to school. The Baseline Assessment covers 6 categories-Behaviour, Personality, Learning, Immune System, Sensory Integration, and Emotions.
Why a baseline assessment? The answer is simple; constant exposure to stress, trauma, toxins and negative thoughts over time creates invisible layers of damage that manifest into nerve system distress and may one day show up as poor health, poor behavior, poor attitude, developmental delay and more.

PARENT EMPOWERMENT WORKSHOP
Jamie Hall, a mental health therapist at Summit’s Edge Counseling, discusses the importance of providing parents with creative tools and skills to handle any concerns they may have with their child. Over the years in practice I’ve helped many children with a variety of health concerns ranging from behavioral issues , personality, sensory integration, learning, immune issues and other difficult health issues. As parents we must have the support, resources and tools to stay on top of it.
The workshop is this coming Saturday at 9 am at Summit’s Edge Counseling.
Office Hours this week:
I will be seeing practice members during our normal days:
- M, W, F morning 8-10 and afternoon 3-6 pm,
- Friday afternoon 3-5:30pm.
- Tues 3-6pm
- Saturday by appointment 8-10 am.
By the way during these other hours/days, I see new patients, meet people in our community, hang out with my family and exercise.

Helping Others, Especially Kids, Is Our Right and Duty as Fellow Human Beings On This Planet
I love helping others. For me helping others is truly a way of life and how I was raised. Chiropractic was a very obvious choice for me, as helping others is literally the job description. A few years ago, I joined a humanitarian group called The New Renaissance that makes it their mission to help the youth of the Fort Peck Native American Reservation in Montana via a charitable arm called “Love Has No Color”. Here is the thing, if you are still reading you know where I am going with this newsletter, I am going to ask for money! You’re absolutely right, I will ask for money and any other kind of resource I can for these incredible kids that by no fault of their own were born into a very difficult situation. Life on the reservation is incredibly harsh, rife with abuse of drugs and alcohol, teen pregnancy, as well as the highest rates of teen suicide in the country, disease, unemployment, poverty, high dropout rates from school and hopelessness. This August we are looking to bring 2000 backpacks full of school supplies, 20 tons of high quality, non perishable food and we are also going to repair an orphanage with 16 boys that really need our help.
“Love Has No Color is dedicated to wiping out extreme hopelessness on Native American Reservations across the country. We are currently helping Native Americans on the Fort Peck Reservation in Eastern Montana. Love Has No Color is recognized as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity. We do not simply hand out gifts and money to the Reservation; we provide programs and support to enhance and brighten the futures of each and every child.We help Native American children living in third world conditions right here in the United States. This is a partnership with the tribes, not a charity or handout. We help people to help themselves. We provide them with hope, self-esteem building activities, and many other tools so they understand there is life beyond the reservation. Time is running out for these people. The suicide rate for children is one of the highest anywhere in this country. We bring awareness to the wretched conditions America’s first people must endure. Once people witness the situation, almost 100% of the time, they’re eager to help out. You can actually see results and changed lives because of your involvement. Their needs go beyond poverty, crime, drugs, and obesity…they have had their human rights and dignity stolen from them. This is not a once-a-year mission where we are there for a short time and then leave. We are a continuous, integral part of their community. We have formed a partnership with the tribe.
Love Has No Color is a partnership with the Assiniboine/Sioux tribes to end extreme hopelessness for Children on the Fort Peck Reservation. With Chiropractic care for the children, youth fitness initiatives (like our street hockey rink and basketball court), and life changing seminars, LHNC is slowly changing the way that the kids at Fort Peck think about their future. We, with the help of The Tribe, restore the health, dignity, cultural identity, traditional values and hope to all on the Fort Peck Reservation.”

PEDIATRIC CHIROPRACTIC RECOMMENDATIONS
I strongly recommend for all babies to have their spine and nerve system evaluated evaluated and adjusted as needed on a regular basis (as early as a few hours/days old). I check my son for misalignmenmts on a regular basis, and he gets adjusted on a regular (weekly) basis. Not because something is wrong with him, but because I want for him to be able to express his full human potential. This potential, the way we function, heal and think is abstracted and interfered with by spinal misalignments. My son, my wife and myself will keep getting regular chiropractic care as long as we are around.

BASELINE HEALTH ASSESSMENTS FOR KIDS
The major focus in my office is on kids and the health of their brains and nervous systems. I believe that every child has the birthright and the potential to be healthy and vital so they may develop to be a wonderful, healthy adult.
As a new father, I understand the special mix of concerns, hopes and excitement we for our children, their health and their overall well-being. Over the past 10 years I have dedicated my life to gain the knowledge and tools to help families raise healthy and happy children.
Over the past few years I have noticed a dramatic increase in cases of pediatric health issues.
